Maine Coon Kittens for Sale Oregon Families Can Bring Home

Oregon is one of the easier trips we make. Two and a half hours in the air, or a genuinely doable drive for the south of the state, and a climate a Maine Coon takes to immediately.

The honest answer

Could you drive to us instead?

Medford families sometimes do. It is around twelve hours down I-5, a long day but a single one, and your kitten travels in your own car the whole way. From Portland it is closer to sixteen hours and most families fly.

The nonstop from San Diego into Portland is about two and a half hours, which is short enough that heat embargoes and connection risk largely stop being a factor. Oregon is the state where we worry least about the journey.

How a Kitten Reaches Oregon

Drive down and collect

Realistic for southern Oregon and the one we will suggest if you are near the California line. Bring a carrier, and plan the I-5 stretch through the Central Valley for the cooler part of the day in summer.

A flight nanny into Portland

Cabin only, handed over at arrivals. PDX is a calm airport to do a handoff in, which is not true everywhere.

Fly in and carry them back

Two and a half hours each way makes this a very manageable day trip, and you get to see where your kitten was raised.

We never place a kitten in cargo. If a route only works that way, we will tell you it does not work.

Worth knowing

What Catches Oregon Families Out

Bend, mostly. Central Oregon families look for a flight into Redmond and end up with a connection, when landing at Portland and driving over the Cascades is usually the better day. In winter we aim to land early so the pass is crossed in daylight.

The second is that Oregon is two climates pretending to be one. A February afternoon in Portland is mild and wet; the same afternoon in Bend can be well below freezing. We plan for the one you actually live in.

And the rain matters for litter training rather than for travel. A kitten who decides that going outside is unpleasant will simply not go outside, so keep everything indoors and predictable for the first few weeks.

Settling in

The First Few Days at Home

Short flight, so most Oregon kittens arrive with energy to spare. Give them one room anyway. Arriving bright and then being shown the whole house is how you get a kitten who hides behind the washing machine.

Same food for the first week or two, and somewhere warm and dark to sleep. The damp is the only thing they will find genuinely unfamiliar.

Oregon families come from Portland, Eugene, Salem, Gresham, Hillsboro, Beaverton, Bend, Medford, Corvallis and Springfield.

What Your Kitten Travels With

Every kitten goes home spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed, with a health certificate, a carrier and a one year genetic health warranty. Read the contract. A $350 deposit holds a kitten against the $650 price, and travel is quoted separately.
