Maine Coon Kittens for Sale Minnesota Families Can Bring Home

Minnesota is one nonstop and one handoff, which makes it one of the simplest journeys on this list. The complicated part is January, and it is complicated for you rather than for the kitten.

The honest answer

How does a kitten get to the Twin Cities?

Minneapolis-St. Paul takes a nonstop from San Diego in about three and a half hours. There is no connection, no second ramp, and no second handling, which is exactly what you want.

MSP covers the whole metro and most of the state. Rochester and Duluth families usually meet the flight at MSP and drive, because a connection into a small airport is harder on a kitten than ninety minutes in a warm car.

How a Kitten Reaches Minnesota

A flight nanny into MSP

Cabin only, nonstop, handed to you at arrivals. The most common route and the one we recommend.

Fly in and carry them home

Three and a half hours each way is a long but very manageable day, and a lot of Minnesota families like seeing the cattery first.

Ground transport

Two to three days by road. It is a long haul from Southern California, so we would usually steer you to the nonstop unless you have a reason to prefer the road.

We never place a kitten in cargo. If a route only works that way, we will tell you it does not work.

Worth knowing

What Catches Minnesota Families Out

Winter, and specifically the walk from the terminal to the car. A kitten raised in Southern California has never felt minus twenty. Warm the car first, bring a blanket for the carrier, and do not stop to do introductions in the car park.

The second is that deep cold occasionally grounds live animal travel altogether. Airlines have low temperature limits as well as high ones, and in a cold snap we will simply wait. A week is nothing; a bad journey lasts.

And Minnesota houses are dry in winter. A humidifier in the room where your kitten sleeps helps with coat and skin more than most people expect for a longhaired cat.

Settling in

The First Few Days at Home

Straight home, one warm quiet room, food and water already out. Do not be surprised if the first thing they do is find the heating vent and stay there.

Keep the diet the same for a week or two. The temperature change is enough of an adjustment on its own.

Minnesota families reach us from Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Rochester, Duluth, Plymouth, Eagan, Maple Grove and St. Cloud.

What Your Kitten Travels With

Every kitten goes home spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed, with a health certificate, a carrier and a one year genetic health warranty. Read the contract. A $350 deposit holds a kitten against the $650 price, and travel is quoted separately.
