Maine Coon Kittens for Sale North Carolina Families Can Bring Home

North Carolina splits neatly in two: Charlotte for the west and the Piedmont, Raleigh-Durham for the Triangle and everything east. Picking the right one saves a whole afternoon.

The honest answer

Charlotte or Raleigh-Durham?

Charlotte is a major hub with frequent service and takes a nonstop from San Diego in about four and a half hours. It is the easier meeting point for most of the state.

Raleigh-Durham is the answer for the Triangle, the coast and the northeast. Choose between them on the drive at your end, not on the fare. A cheaper ticket into the wrong airport stops being cheaper somewhere around the second hour of I-40.

How a Kitten Reaches North Carolina

A flight nanny into CLT or RDU

In the cabin from San Diego, handed to you at arrivals. This is how nearly every Carolina kitten travels.

Fly in and carry them back

A weekend round trip from either airport, with the handoff in Jamul. You see the cattery and your kitten travels under your own seat.

Ground transport

Three days across the country. We will price it and talk it through if you would rather avoid an airport, but for this distance we usually recommend flying.

We never place a kitten in cargo. If a route only works that way, we will tell you it does not work.

Worth knowing

What Catches North Carolina Families Out

The humidity, which is a different problem from heat. A Carolina July afternoon is harder on a kitten than the thermometer suggests, so it is an early flight, a short handover and a cooled car already running, in that order.

Hurricane season from late summer into autumn is the other. A storm can take a date away at very short notice, and when that happens your kitten simply stays with us until there is a clear morning at both ends.

And if you are out towards the Banks, say so before anything is booked. Four hours from RDU means the landing slot matters considerably more than the ticket price.

Settling in

The First Few Days at Home

Cool room, water in the car, a proper meal once you are home rather than at the airport. The first evening should be deliberately boring.

Same food for a week or two. Introductions to the rest of the household are better spread over several days than done at the front door.

Carolina families reach us from Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Cary, Fayetteville, Wilmington and Asheville.

What Your Kitten Travels With

Every kitten goes home spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed, with a health certificate, a carrier and a one year genetic health warranty. Read the contract. A $350 deposit holds a kitten against the $650 price, and travel is quoted separately.
