Maine Coon Kittens for Sale Michigan Families Can Bring Home

Michigan is a four and a half hour flight and, for half the year, a weather conversation. We plan these trips around the forecast more than any other state.

The honest answer

Detroit or Grand Rapids?

Detroit takes a nonstop from San Diego and has enough of them that we can usually choose the landing time rather than accept one. It suits the southeast of the state easily.

West Michigan is the interesting case. Grand Rapids saves two hours of driving for anyone from Kalamazoo northwards, but the service is thinner and changes with the season, so it is worth raising early rather than assuming either way.

How a Kitten Reaches Michigan

A flight nanny into Detroit

Cabin the whole way, handed to you at arrivals, about five minutes at the airport once they have landed.

Meeting the flight in Green Bay

Odd on paper and sensible for the Upper Peninsula. For a lot of UP towns it is a shorter and safer drive home than coming down to Detroit.

Ground transport

Two to three days by road with updates as they go. For some January dates this is the more predictable option rather than the less.

We never place a kitten in cargo. If a route only works that way, we will tell you it does not work.

Worth knowing

What Catches Michigan Families Out

Lake-effect snow, which has very little to do with the statewide forecast. It can shut a road on the west side while Detroit sits under clear skies, so from December we keep a spare day in the plan and aim to land in daylight.

If you are up in the Peninsula, tell us at the start rather than after a flight is booked. The right airport for Marquette is not the right airport for Monroe.

And the car park, which sounds trivial until you are standing in it. Warm the car first, park and walk in, and do the introductions at home rather than in February air.

Settling in

The First Few Days at Home

The temperature change is the largest of any state we send to. Jamul in the morning, Michigan in the evening. Warm car, short walk, straight into one quiet room.

Keep the food identical for a week or two, and expect a kitten who sleeps through the whole first evening. That is the flight, not the cold.

Michigan families come from Detroit, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Warren, Sterling Heights, Kalamazoo, Flint and Traverse City.

What Your Kitten Travels With

Every kitten goes home spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed, with a health certificate, a carrier and a one year genetic health warranty. Read the contract. A $350 deposit holds a kitten against the $650 price, and travel is quoted separately.
