Maine Coon Kittens for Sale Colorado Families Can Bring Home

Colorado is a two hour flight and one of our simpler routes, right up until the point where somebody has to drive into the mountains afterwards.

The honest answer

Denver, and then what?

Denver takes a nonstop from San Diego in about two hours, with enough flights through the day that we can pick a morning. For anyone on the Front Range that is effectively the whole journey.

Mountain-town families have a second leg, and that leg is the part worth planning. We time the landing so the drive is finished in daylight, and in winter the forecast on I-70 decides the date rather than the airfare.

Colorado Springs (COS)about 2 hours, fewer flights

How a Kitten Reaches Colorado

A flight nanny into Denver

Two hours in the cabin, handed to you at arrivals. Short enough that it is an easy morning for everyone involved.

Fly in and carry them back

A comfortable day trip. Fly into San Diego, collect in Jamul, and fly home the same evening with the kitten under the seat.

Ground transport

About two days by road. A reasonable option for Colorado and one we are happy to look at, particularly if an airport is not how you want to spend the day.

We never place a kitten in cargo. If a route only works that way, we will tell you it does not work.

Worth knowing

What Catches Colorado Families Out

I-70 in winter, which can close with almost no warning and strand a perfectly good plan at the airport. If you are west of the tunnels we build a spare day in, and we would rather move a date than have you on a pass after dark.

Altitude is a real but modest adjustment. Expect a kitten who sleeps more than you were expecting for the first few days and who drinks more water than usual. Keep the bowl full and in one predictable place.

And the dryness catches people out more than the height does. Colorado winter air indoors is very dry, and a humidifier in the room where the kitten sleeps is a small thing that makes a noticeable difference.

Settling in

The First Few Days at Home

Two hours is a gentle trip, so most Colorado kittens arrive alert. One room, food and water out already, and let them come to you.

Keep the diet unchanged for a week or two, and give them a few quiet days before any long car journey up into the mountains.

Colorado families reach us from Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora, Fort Collins, Lakewood, Boulder, Greeley, Longmont and Pueblo.

What Your Kitten Travels With

Every kitten goes home spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed, with a health certificate, a carrier and a one year genetic health warranty. Read the contract. A $350 deposit holds a kitten against the $650 price, and travel is quoted separately.
